are hosting the second annual Whitewater Symposium in Franklin, NH, home of New
England’s only whitewater park.

The weekend is about bringing the whitewater community
together to learn, grow, connect, and paddle with each other, industry leaders,
and professional athletes.

What's included? With your admission ticket, you get access to all events over the weekend to include the Friday Night social at The Waterhorse Pub, NRS raffle on Friday night with prizes worth $100 per prize bag, all seminars and workshops on Saturday, all on-water events on Saturday (and shuttles), Saturday Night party, and Sunday shuttles.

The symposium takes place in downtown Franklin, NH inside our
great pubs, breweries, and spaces. Franklin is the home of the first and only
whitewater park in New England and has become the epicenter of whitewater
community over the last 3 years.

Come to connect, reignite your passion, build relationships,
learn more about the sport you love, and be an active participant in the whitewater
community.

FRIDAY 4/17

3:00 - 5:30 pm Wave/Hole Jam
Trestle View Park

  • Join us at the Lower Winnipesaukee River whitewater park for some paddling to get the weekend started right!
  • Check in for the event at Outdoor New England to get your lanyard which gets you entry into all of the events, your raffle ticket, a map, and schedule. Don't forget to use your $35 gift card at Outdoor New England!

6:30 pm - 9:30 pm Whitewater Park Panel, Evening Social, films, and NRS raffle!
Waterhorse Pub

  • Those attending the Friday evening social or Nor’easter, who are registered for the event and show their lanyard, will be entered to win one of 4 NRS prize packs.  Prize packs are valued at $100.00.  Be sure to swing by ‘Outdoor New England’ to get your lanyard, before making your way to the Waterhorse Pub.
  • Northeast Whitewater Park panel discussion: find out what's going on in New England to transform towns, restore rivers, and bring more PADDLING to the community. Multiple whitewater park concepts are moving forward in northeast communities. Come listen and ask questions about the Boothe River Park in NY, the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership in CT, and our hometown park in Franklin, NH.
  • Those that are not registered, are welcome to the pub but are not eligible to participate in the raffle. 

SATURDAY 4/18

All of these seminars have been thoughtfully curated to enhance your skills, connection to the paddling community, and help you advance your performance. There are multiple options of seminars to choose from per time slot. There are a variety of educational and interactive seminars and events with our amazing guest speakers to choose from.

Each seminar will be hosted inside one of our local, downtown breweries, pubs, and shops - an opportunity to explore and support local businesses!

9:00 am at Outdoor New England

9:30 am - 2:00 pm Vendor village at Trestle View Park

  • One of the most important resources of the Nor’Easter, is access to paddle sports, vendor Representatives.  Interacting with products, getting insider feedback on the reason behind designs, how to best care for your gear and how to deal with the situation of broken gear.  The key to a great specialty retailer is getting access to all of this and that experience is only heightened when our vendor partners are on site.  At ONE and set up in tents throughout the city of Franklin, you will find NRS, Werner Paddles, Jackson Kayak, and Astral ready to answer your questions or loan you some gear.  Be sure to look for the "FIT Check" flags on the NRS tent, to meet the experts and get FIT with the perfect PFD… even take it for a swim!  JK. and Werner Paddles will have demos to try.  ‘Astral’ will have samples on hand. Dial in the perfect fit and demo an NRS dry suit before you decide to buy. 
  • Individual booths will have games, to win additional raffle tickets.  With the Nor’Easter Raffle now over $4000 in prizes, you can’t not play!

9:30am-10:15am Whitewater Designs of Jackson Kayak and Werner Paddles

  • Nick Troutman, Professional Whitewater Athlete, has taken his expertise in using the products to the product development Teams of Jackson Kayak and Werner Paddles.  Maybe the most exciting, in its first full year on the river, is the totally redesigned Antix 3.  Join Nick has he reviews the key design elements, in which he was a key part in, of this specific boat… while also answering questions on your favorite JK and Werner Paddles designs.  Nick will be joined by brand Representative and Product Development Team member for JK, Colin Kemp.  

9:30am-10:15am Paddle, Pride, and Coffee
At Analog Coffee with Ann Gillard and NRS

  • 2026 marks the 8th Annual "Pride on the River," gathering on the Deerfield River. Join founder and event lead, Ann Gillard, in learning why it has grown so much and given people of the LGBTQ+ community a must attend river event. An open discussion to follow on how to get more people of the community into the outdoors and how to navigate the growing obstacles being put in the way. Coffee and prizes sponsored by NRS.

10:30am-11:15am Wellness for Paddlers 
TBD location with Dr. Celeste Gabai and NRS

  • The low-impact nature of paddling makes it a sport we can continue to enjoy as we age. But to maximize performance as an aging athlete, we need to become more proactive in taking care of our bodies, helping to avoid injury and lessen their effects when they do.  Join NRS Ambassador, and medical professional, Celeste Gabai  DCATC, as she leads an interactive class on ‘Wellness for Paddlers.’  Be sure to bring a means to take notes, as she will be sending you home with a lot of new ideas on how to better take care of your body and enjoy your time on the water. For those of you have seen Celeste in the past, she will tweak the material to add new ideas, without missing out on core principles for new guests. 

10:30am-11:15am SAR Tales and How to Prepare for your Next Adventure
At Outdoor New England with Lucas Robdau

  • Tales of backcountry rescues and harrowing moments that make us remember how to be better prepared on our next adventure. You'll receive some practical advise from this pro so you are confident and prepared for anything on or off the water!

11:30pm-12:15pm Steep Creaks in Italy
At Outdoor New England with Marty Parichand and Dan Philbrick

  • Marty Parichand, founder and owner of Outdoor New England, saw the opportunity to help New England boaters spread their wings and take kayaking abroad. Maybe no ONE adventure travel venue has been more spectacular than Italy.  Join in to hear how the trip came together, planning, logistics, and the on and off river highlights… including the pasta and wine. Marty will be joined by international trip planner Dan Philbrick, who has travelled the World extensively to kayak whitewater.  The two can help answer any questions you may have on how to plan a successful international paddling adventure. 

11:30pm-12:15pm How Young People can Thrive in the Outdoors
At Outdoor New England with Emily Jackson and Nick Troutman

  • Professional kayak Athletes, Emily Jackson and Nick Troutman and so very alike many of us… they are parents, too!  Choosing to raise their two children outdoors, on the water, while travelling the Globe, gives them a unique perspective in how to find ways to let young ones thrive.  This will be an open seminar, sharing best practices and answering the IMPORTANT questions from parents on how to survive…KIDDING…how to thrive with young people in the outdoors.

12:30pm- 1:15pm American Whitewater 2026 Update on the Northeast
At Outdoor New England with Bob Nasdor and American Whitewater

  • Join Northeast Stewardship Director, Bob Nasdor, as he leads a forum on what to look for from American Whitewater in the Northeast, in 2026.  Pressing issues, new opportunities, relicensing projects.  A veteran of the AW Team since 2012, Bob is a passionate steward of our rivers and kayaker.  Have your questions (and donations!) ready for him. 

2:00pm-4:00pm ON WATER - LET'S PADDLE!

  • Class II River Skills
    This will be a group paddle on the Winni, catered toward beginner to advanced beginner kayakers looking to build on class II river running and river play skills. We will be working on breaking in and out of eddies, ferries, group management and setting safety.  For those looking to grow their play skills, we will have lots of opportunities to stern squirt.  The class will meet at the Cross Mill Road parking area, in Northfield (the put in for the Class III section). We will be working in the first rapids and when class ends, walk upstream on river left back  to our vehicles. Participants can choose to paddle the class III section to Trestle Park, but will not be officially escorted by Nor’easter Staff.  Participants should have the skills to wet exit and the understanding of how to be rescued in moving water in the event of a swim.  Along with essential gear like spray skirt, helmet and PFD, float bags and clothing for immersion are required.  You must sign up in advance for this session and group size will be limited
  • Class III River Skills
    This will be a group paddle on the Winni, catered toward intermediate to advanced intermediate kayaker looking to build on class III river running and river play skills. We will be working on boat scouting and eddy hopping down a class II-III section of river, which will go through Franklin’s Whitewater Park.  Group management and setting safety will be addressed.  Along the way the three play spots of the Whitewater Park will be navigated.  Those with the skills to play can participate.  Others can learn from the eddy and work on the next step skills to play boating.  Nor’easter will provide shuttle from Trestle View Park to the put in.  Those looking for shuttle should be at the Park, dressed to paddle, by no later than 1:45pm.  The session will end at Trestle View Park. Participants should have class III skills and be able to navigate this level of whitewater. Essential skills are the ability to wet exit and the understanding of how to be rescued in moving water in the event of a swim.  Along with essential gear like spray skirt, helmet and PFD, float bags and clothing for immersion are required.  You must sign up in advance for this session and group size will be limited.

4:30pm-6:00pm ON WATER - LET'S FREESTYLE!

  • Jackson Fun Tour-Freestyle the Winni
    Led by our Pros, Emily Jackson and Nick Troutman, and supported by ONE instructors and staff, the Jackson Fun Tour will take on the Winni!  This is a true celebration of the hard work put in to complete the Whitewater Park and add two brand new features over the Fall of 2025 and Winter of 2026.

  • Join us for our final social of the symposium. We have Paddle Sports Trivia planned and the epic raffle!!! Hang out with your new friends, recap the good times of the weekend, last chance for raffle tickets and find out if you won!!!

SUNDAY 4/19 Premium Clinics:

Women’s Freestyle Clinic with Emily Jackson (Book Here)

  • Sunday 11:00am-1:30pm
  • 1 to 5 Coach to Student ratio guaranteed
  • Cost $150 per person
    • Join Emily Jackson, multiple time World and National Champion Freestyle kayaker, for one-on-one instruction at the Mill City Whitewater Park. In the spirit of empowering female paddlers, this is a Women’s only Clinic. Equal time will be spent on river play skills, like stern squirts, as well as at each of the three play features. The class caps at five participants, so you will receive plenty of personal instruction from Emily. Participants should have class III skills and be able to navigate this level of whitewater. Essential skills needed are the ability to wet exit and an understanding of how to be rescued in moving water in the event of a swim. You will need your own essential gear like spray skirt, helmet and PFD, float bags and clothing for immersion are required. Check in with Outdoor New England if you need gear. You must sign up in advance for this session as we will cap at five participants. 

Freestyle Kayak Clinic with Nick Troutman (Book Here)

  • Sunday 11:00am-1:30pm
  • 1 to 5 Coach to Student ratio guaranteed
  • Cost $150 per person
    • Join our friend, Nick Troutman, multiple time World and National Champion Freestyle kayaker, for one-on-one instruction at the Mill City Whitewater Park. This clinic will be opened to anyone who wants to join Nick. Equal time will be spent on river play skills, like stern squirts, as well as at each of the three play features. The class caps at five participants, so you will receive plenty of personal instruction from Nick. Participants should have class III skills and be able to navigate this level of whitewater. Essential skills needed are the ability to wet exit and an understanding of how to be rescued in moving water in the event of a swim. Dry Wear Repair Workshop (Book Here)

  • Sunday 2:00PM-3:30PM 
  • Cost $139 person
  • Get a repair kit and everything you need, including personalized instruction on how to repair dry wear gaskets. Alongside the trained staff from ‘ONE,’ you will repair your neck and wrist gaskets and you’ll go home with the material and forms to never have to pay to fix your gaskets again!
  • To assure inventory of gaskets, participants must register one week in advance and include dry top / dry suit size.
